Conference: “Fifty Years of Teaching: Change Factors and Intergenerational Dialogues

The Rectorate Building of the University of Madeira, located in Jesuit College, will host the conference “Fifty Years of Teaching: Drivers of Change and Intergenerational Dialogue” on the 26th of September at 2:30 PM.

The conference, organized with the support of the Research Centre for Education at the University of Madeira (CIE-UMa), is part of the ‘Comparatively’ conference series by the Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (SPCE-SEC), and will be delivered by Professor Amélia Lopes, PhD, from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at the University of Porto.

Participation is free upon prior registration via the form available at https://forms.gle/U74svfCYcg6f2YWv5. At the time of registration, participants must select their preferred mode of attendance (in-person or online).

Starting in April 2025, the ‘Comparatively’ series by SPCE-SEC brings together academics, researchers, teachers, and students interested in the dynamics of education across diverse contexts—national and international, regional and local. Each session offers an opportunity to discuss emerging topics, both local and global, reflecting on educational and pedagogical practices, public education policies, and the challenges and opportunities facing education in different countries and regions, with a particular focus on Portugal. Adopting an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, the initiative fosters dialogue and knowledge sharing among experts, reinforcing the role of Comparative Education as a key field for understanding the complexities and transformations of education on a global scale. Currently, the Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences is coordinated by Professor Nuno Fraga, PhD, lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Madeira and head of the Educational Administration research line at CIE-UMa.
