What kind of teachers are we training today? What kind of educators do we aim to prepare? What kind of school are we preparing them for? Do we want change? If so, what kind of change? These and other questions will be the focus of collective reflection during the XIX Colloquium of the Education Research Centre of the University of Madeira (CIE-UMa), taking place on 14th and 15th of December at the Rectorate Building, Jesuit College.
The CIE-UMa, aware of the importance and relevance of this topic, and as part of a university with a strong tradition in teacher education, has decided that the time has come to dedicate its annual Colloquium to this subject. It will be an excellent opportunity to hear from specialists and all those who, in various ways, contribute to teacher education, including students, and to foster active critical thinking.
In keeping with the tradition of previous editions, the colloquium program includes four plenary lectures featuring Fernando Correia and Elsa Fernandes (University of Madeira), Assunção Flores (University of Minho), and Nélia Amado (University of Algarve), the launch of the book Education and Community Development, and several sessions of oral communications.
Those interested in presenting papers at the XIX Colloquium of the Education Research Centre of the University of Madeira (CIE-UMa) must submit their abstracts by November 24 through the event website. Presentations should fall within one of the following research areas: Curriculum, Pedagogical Innovation, Educational Administration, and Community Development.
